Before joining the metrology community, Klaus Jaeger was involved in elementary particle research as collaborator in experiments at Argonne, Fermi and Brookhaven National Laboratories as well as the Stanford Linear Accelerator. Large-scale data acquisition required the use of sophisticated statistical analyses and data handling techniques.
Klaus Jaeger is a member and fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) and in particular of the Instrument Measurement Science Topical Group which he chaired in 1993. He has been active in the IEEE organization for many years and chaired the Morris E. Leeds Award committee in 1988/89. From 1989 until 1995, he was a member of the review panel for the National Research Council (NRC) reviewing the technical programs administered by the radiometric division for the physics department of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
He has been active with the National Conference of Standards Laboratories International (NCSL-I) for which he was President in 1999. He was Vice President of the NCSL-I for over eight years supervising activities in the areas of Measurement Science and Technology as well as Publications. His committee involvements include US Measurement Requirements, Intrinsic & Derived Standards, ANSI/NCSL Writing Committee, Conference Tutorials and Administrative Guidelines and Bylaws.
Publications include co-authored articles in Physical Review and Physical Review Letters for particle physics and IEEE Proceedings for the bi-annual Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements. Numerous talks as well as recommended practices (RP) have been published in either the NCSL-I conference proceedings or in separate publications.
Based on his experience, gathered over the last thirty-five years, Dr. Klaus Jaeger is now offering services through consultations, training and teaching regarding metrology issues.
